Invisalign Braces at Bicton

Invisalign Braces at Bicton Place

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a well-established, near-invisible aligner system that is designed to gradually and gently straighten teeth. Favoured by older as well as younger patients wanting to avoid the traditional ‘tram track’ braces.

Why use Invisalign instead of metal braces?

The Invisalign system has no wires and brackets - these effective, clear aligners can be conveniently removed for eating and drinking and simply replaced afterwards so you can eat, brush and floss your teeth as normal, making them much more socially comfortable and also more hygienic.

Made of a flexible patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack, Invisalign is recognised and widely used around the world. If suitable, the Invisalign system can significantly improve the look of a smile.

The Process with Invisalign

Once it has been established by Tom that the aligners should be able to help improve your smile, moulds are taken and you will receive a unique, digital treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth.

On average around 12, and up to 20, sets of clear aligners, tailored for you, will be created along with instruction and a schedule to use them in succession. Your Invisalign clear aligners are designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your plan. You’ll have check-ups roughly every 6-8 weeks to check your progress and collect your next set of aligners.

Tom will be with you every step of the way to monitor your progress and ensure your aligners fit correctly.

Each set of aligners is worn for 20 to 22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, as directed by Tom. They will gradually shift your teeth into their new position, according to your treatment plan, all moving you gently towards your new, improved smile. Improvements can often be seen in just weeks although for most people it takes approximately 6 to 18 months to finish treatment.  It all depends upon how complex your adjustments are.

What are the Advantages of Invisalign?

One of the great things about Invisalign is that you can remove your aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. You can take them off for special occasions, like a wedding, job interview, or for playing your favourite sport or instrument. They just need to be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day to get the best results. So much easier than it used to be!

After Invisalign Treatment

Most Invisalign Doctors recommend that anyone who has completed orthodontic treatment, whether with braces or Invisalign treatment, use a retainer to prevent teeth from gradually shifting back toward their initial position. Tom may recommend the durable Vivera retainer.
