If you’re missing one or more teeth, you may be wondering whether dental implants are the right option for you. The good news is that most adults in reasonably good health are suitable — but there are a few things to consider first.

✅ You’re likely suitable for dental implants if:

• You have one or more missing teeth or loose dentures
• Your gums are healthy and free from active gum disease
• Your jaw has enough bone density to support an implant (we can assess this with a 3D scan)
• You’re in good general health — conditions like diabetes don’t rule you out, but need to be well controlled
• You’re a non-smoker, or willing to stop — as smoking can increase the risk of implant failure

🦷 What if I’ve been missing teeth for years?

It’s still very possible! The longer a tooth has been missing, the more likely some bone may have been lost. But thanks to modern techniques, such as bone grafting or smaller-diameter implants, treatment may be possible even in more complex cases.

🛑 When might dental implants not be suitable?

Implants may not be recommended if you have:

• Uncontrolled diabetes or autoimmune conditions
• Active gum disease
• Severe bone loss (without bone grafting)
• A habit of heavy smoking without plans to reduce/stop
